#FinisherFriday: The Filipino Destroyer

(Belated) happy Independence Day, Philippines!

We weren't able to put this up yesterday because apart from Dusty's passing (which we're still mourning), most of the Virgils in the Smark Henry offices got the day off. Smark Henry is still too cheap to pay them a holiday differential. Besides, our signature Filipino time is always late. We're just honoring that. (And at this point, we officially run out of excuses.)

For this week's Finisher Friday Saturday and to celebrate Independence Day, we showcase the very first pro wrestling finisher that's specifically named after our country. Filipino-American TNA star DJZ, formerly known as Zema Ion, formerly known as Shiima Xion, formerly known as (interestingly) Super Hentai, has, or had, a finisher he called the Filipino Destroyer.

There's a lot of awkward gyrations before the move, but it's really that nasty-looking head spike at the end. I believe we can safely assume that it's a destroyer that is Filipino, and not a move that destroys Filipinos.

With the advent of Philippine Wrestling Revolution, though, I'm sure we'll have more pure Filipino finishers to celebrate in the Independence Days to come.

What do you think, though? Do you agree that this move deserves to be called the Filipino Destroyer? Let's talk about it in the comments.
