The Grapevine (6/24/15): Injury Updates, Dolph to TNA?

Good morning, everyone! It's your daily Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's today's round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed from the day before.

Last night on RAW, Jamie Noble got injured, and we've got some updates all around:

  • So far, Jamie Noble's broken ribs are legitimate. Officials were concerned off-camera and the dreaded X sign was thrown up more than once. However, it is still possible that the injury might be a work, or at the very least, might be worked into Brock Lesnar vs. the Authority leading up to Battleground.

We say: This is how pro wrestling has spoiled us with its overexposure and systemic destruction of kayfabe; we're reduced to speculating how a man's real rib injury can figure into a storyline to entertain people. Although this has been an age-old practice, shouldn't we chill out a little and not be, we don't know, so cold and blasé about getting seriously hurt?

  • More on WWE injuries: Erick Rowan's injury, as reported yesterday, appears to be a serious arm injury. While that seems to be the diagnosis, Rowan managed to work the next day's live event. Meanwhile, Tyson Kidd is scheduled for spine surgery today, the same surgery Edge, Chris Benoit, and Steve Austin had on their necks. He'll be out for more than a year.

We say: Let's hope that they're not exacerbating Rowan's injury, and that it isn't anything too serious. Meanwhile, it sucks that Tyson has to be out for a year, but let's not blame this on Samoa Joe's Muscle Buster. It's good that he's opting to take the surgery.

  • An update to the report on Dolph Ziggler possibly leaving the WWE once his contract is up: a former TNA writer by the name of Jason Cook believes he's going to TNA. Apparently, Cook claims Dolph has been "praising" Impact Wrestling and "saying" it's "more entertaining than RAW." He's reportedly made it clear to TNA that he wants to be there.

We say: Wrestlers will want to work wherever they want to work, and you can't blame the guy for being unhappy, but Impact "more entertaining" than RAW? I mean the former's got its moments, but still...

  • Speaking of TNA, former TNA World Heavyweight and X Division Champion Austin Aries's contract expires after Slammiversary this Sunday. The two sides have not yet agreed to a new deal as of this moment.

We say: AA has been relatively floating along lately, but he's a guy TNA needs to keep, what with the indy scene being a hot free agent territory right now for the bigger (and seemingly bigger) fishes in the sea.

What do you think? Will they use Jamie Noble's injury as fodder for Brock Lesnar? Or do you think the injury itself is all a work? Let us know in the comments!
