The Grapevine (6/29/15): The TNA Exodus Continues, But Kurt's Gonna Be All Right

Good morning, everyone! It's your daily Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's today's round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed from the day before.

The sad and somewhat infuriating TNA saga continued over the weekend, and for those who were too busy living to keep up with the soap opera, here's what happened:

  • TNA's roster exodus continues. James Storm, Austin Aries, Magnus, and Mickie James are apparently done after Slammiversary today (Manila time). This follows the departures of Low Ki, Samuel Shaw, and Gunner. Storm and Magnus claim that there's simply more money to be made elsewhere. Aries's deal also expired and he did not renew; he loses to Rockstar Spud in a future match in which he must leave TNA. Interestingly, Awesome Kong and TNA Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell were also rumored to be leaving, but both women and TNA executive Bob Ryder denied that particular report. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: We don't care how big of a TNA fan or apologist you are—when big talents are leaving, it means something is very, very wrong. If TNA can't support its top talent, it'll have to do something quick. We think the best way is to slowly reboot its structure and brand.

  • You may have heard elsewhere that Kurt Angle has a tumor in his neck. Breathe easy—according to Angle himself, it's not a serious tumor, so it won't require a major operation. He says he'll be wrestling again in as early as three weeks. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: That's good. You never expect anything pleasant whenever you hear the word "tumor."

  • You may have also heard elsewhere that Dolph Ziggler re-signed with the WWE. He claims that he feels "they like having [him] around and [he] loves working here, so it would be really hard to walk away." He says he wants to end his career where he started. (Source: Boston Herald)

We say: That's really interesting, considering he was reportedly telling people backstage he was about ready to leave because his booking leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like he was offered a significant pay raise if he's changed his tune.

  • In an amusing bit of news, Seth Rollins is apparently banned from a music festival. According to this tweet below, the WWE World Heavyweight Champ is banned the FarmBorough Country Music Festival in New York City last weekend.

We say: Serves him right. Who'd invite a jackass to these things anyway? ...oh, wait.

What do you think? Is TNA now sinking faster than ever, or are they setting themselves up for a Mil Muertes-style resurrection? Let's talk about it! Share your thoughts in the comments below!
