#ThrowbackThursday: Edge's King of the Ring Win

On this day (well, sort of), we see clearly that 14 years ago, Edge won the King of the Ring tournament after defeating then-incumbent King of the Ring and Team RECK teammate Kurt Angle in the finals.

Edge's road to becoming King of the Ring started with a victory over Test in the first round, then he defeated Perry Saturn in the second round. In the semi-final round, Edge defeated his ally in Team RECK, Rhyno, leading to his finals match against Kurt Angle.

While a King of the Ring victory has almost always prefaced a massive singles push, Edge's legend wouldn't be fully realized until a good five years later, when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on an exhausted John Cena at New Year's Revolution 2006.

The rest, as they say it, is history.

We miss the Rated-R Superstar, but we're also happy that his budding acting career has been turning out well and that he's happily raising a family of his own alongside Beth Phoenix.
