Stephen Amell Cuts His First Promo

The San Diego Comic Con is always a treasure trove of all things geekery, and the whole shindig's become so big that a lot of our interests start criss-crossing with each other.

You've all known that Stephen Amell has made his presence felt in the WWE, and that minor appearance is rumored to lead up to something at SummerSlam in New York. This weekend, he tested out his mic chops and cut what he called was his very first "WWE-style" promo as Green Arrow (not just the Arrow).

You can watch the whole thing here:

Quick workshopping: he seems a little nervous, as though it were more uncomfortable for him to speak in front of a live crowd than it is reciting gravelly monologues into a camera. He keeps idly shuffling back and forth, which disconnects from the Arrow's usual stoic demeanor.

It definitely does sound like a WWE promo, though, full of beats and pauses, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's good because it fits right in with a live crowd atmosphere, where there is time for the audience to react, but it's bad because it sounds rather run-of-the-mill. Not all wrestling promos have to sound like a wrestling promo, and an actor like Stephen should have more versatility and range.

Still, though, there should be enough time to get better! Hell, fanboys are going to love the mere idea of Amell in the WWE alone.

What do you think? Did Amell fail his city? Let us know in the comments!
