The Grapevine (7/6/15): Finn Balor's Tokyo Win, Wrestlers On WWE 2K16

Good morning, everyone! It's your daily Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's today's round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed from the day before.

It's been a quiet Sunday in the wake of Beast in the East.

  • Finn Balor winning the NXT Championship was not a last-minute decision. It had been planned for some time now.

We say: With TakeOver in Brooklyn still a while away and Kevin Owens already making himself home on the main roster, Balor winning the title was a good move. It frees up Owens to finally go after the U.S. title and the focus of the NXT Champion to be back in NXT. Doing it on the live Tokyo show—pretty much Balor's second hometown—was as good a time as any.

  • Speaking of NXT, reports are saying that 2K Games want the most up-to-date and greatest roster ever for WWE 2K16, wanting guys like Samoa Joe in the game. Any new signees will most likely have to be DLC, however.

We say: Rosters would have been locked at around WrestleMania thanks to the development cycle, but it's nice they're trying to go all-out for 2K16. Players' biggest gripe is an outdated roster. Let's see if the humongous wrestler pool doesn't come with any catches in the gameplay.

Who do you want to see on NBA 2K16? And who do you want to see feud with Finn Balor for the NXT title? Let us know in the comments!
