#MustWatchMonday: The Smark Henry Road To SummerSlam Begins

We've got two weeks left 'til this year's SummerSlam, and we're officially kicking off the hype train that culminates in our viewing parties of both NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and the big summer party on the 22nd and 23rd, respectively, Manila time. From here on out, our theme days will be all, if not mostly, SummerSlam.

For this week's #MWM, we take a look back two years to one of the most brutal matches in recent SummerSlam and WWE history: CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar.

Forgive the modified illegal video, but that's the best copy of the full match we can find on YouTube.

You can think whatever you think of CM Punk right now and you can debate endlessly about who should've won this match, but the biggest accomplishment he pulled off in the build to this match was making us believe that he, in his smaller stature compared to Brock, had the power to go toe-to-toe with the Beast Incarnate. While Brock did dominate the no-DQ match, Punk was able to more than hold his own, giving us a highly dramatic and competitive bout that was both better than Punk/Undertaker on WrestleMania 29 and Lesnar/Undertaker on WrestleMania XXX.

In order for Lesnar and 'Taker to outdo their largely flat effort from last year, 'Taker will need to get in the best shape he could to be the faster guy in the match the same way Punk did; Lesnar's style doesn't serve him well in being the "small guy" in the dynamic, even if 'Taker is bigger than him. They're gonna need a lot more electrifying energy to justify being this year's main event over Cena and Rollins.

What's your favorite SummerSlam match or moment from recent history? Let us know in the comments!
