The Grapevine (8/12/15): We Don't Know Who Seth Will Be Facing Yet

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's our round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

Interesting (and infuriating, depending on where you stand) backstage news coming out of yesterday's RAW:

  • If Cena cannot wrestle at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins might be scheduled to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against either Randy Orton, or Orton and Sheamus in a triple threat. The WWE doesn't have an update on Cena's condition as of now, but they'll be making a decision when they do, or by next week's RAW—whichever comes first. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: Inb4 "But Cena can't rassle!" jokes. Cena actually just appeared on Tough Enough and said he's ready to accept the Winner Take All challenge, but that's not tantamount to a medical clearance. (This is the same guy who was doing deadlifts days after the injury.) While it would be a damn shame if Rollins couldn't find himself in a marquee matchup at the second-biggest show of the year, a match against Orton or the two of them would be a safer bet that's sure to be fire as well, if history is any indication. On the other hand, without Cena, Taker and Lesnar would suddenly get an extra helping of pressure. We're not sure yet on which scenario we're pulling for.

  • Speaking of Orton, in an update on the petty politics surrounding Kevin Dunn and Kevin Owens, Orton's little verbal jab on KO's weight was reportedly deliberate. It seems that Dunn told him to say that, which resulted in Dunn trending on Twitter last night.

We say: While these aren't confirmed, it would not be hard to believe considering Dunn's vendetta against the NXT stars. Fortunately, while it doesn't happen as quickly as we want it to, what goes around does come around. Just ask Hulk Hogan.

  • In an update on Sheamus and Alicia Fox sustaining concussions, both have been cleared to wrestle. Sheamus looked like he had one from last week's RAW, while Fox actually did have one after taking a bad bump during a tag match. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: We're always happy to hear good news regarding wrestlers' health.

What do you think? Who would you rather see Rollins defend against—Cena, Orton, or Orton and Sheamus? Let us know in the comments!
