The Grapevine (8/18/15): Looks Like WWE Really Is Working With WWN Live

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's our round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We have an update on an intriguing business development:

  • In an update on WWE doing business with WWN Live, WWE archivist Ben Brown and Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen were reportedly at last weekend's EVOLVE show. We reported a couple of months ago that WWE seemed to be doing business with the company, and now it seems WWN's Gabe Sapolsky and Sal Hamaoui will be at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: This might explain why Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were at NXT, but what does it all mean, Basil? What is this leading to? The NXT roster is brimming with talent as it is, so what kind of strange plan does Triple H have for his daycare facility?

  • In legends news, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kevin Nash are scheduled to be at Brooklyn for SummerSlam weekend. While Austin is going to be hosting the WWE 2K16 event, Nash will just be around for some appearances. It's possible that they may be appearing at TakeOver, but nothing is set in stone. Meanwhile, Jushin Thunder Liger is staying in the US after the NXT show, but isn't scheduled for SummerSlam or RAW. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Never say never. Knowing the company, we wouldn't put it above them to milk the legends a little more.

  • We reported last week that the Rock might be showing up at SummerSlam. It turns out they were already in talks way before Roman Reigns pretty much spoiled the whole thing by refusing to comment on it on a radio interview. However, nothing is confirmed as far as Dwayne goes. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: If anything at all, the Rock needs to show up just to keep the little feud with Bo going.

What do you think? Which EVOLVE/DGUSA stars would you like to see in the WWE? Which legends do you wanna see show up at SummerSlam weekend? Let us know in the comments!
