The Grapevine (8/20/15): Hours On Hours of TakeOver

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, and for those who need to catch up, here's our round-up of the (technically unconfirmed) dirt and rumors from the cartoon world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

Still a rather slow news day over the past 24 hours:

  • Triple H confirmed that not every match on the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn posters he tweeted will be on the live special. We posted the sweet vintage-style posters on the Smark Henry Facebook page, and there were a total of 12 matches advertised over two posters. TakeOver will begin at 9 a.m., Manila time and will probably go the usual two hours. (Source: WWE)

We say: Thank God—we already don't like how four to five matches are crammed in every one-hour episode of NXT, and we were worried about how 12 matches were going to fit in even three hours. The rest of the matches will be taped for TV, but we wonder how it will affect spoilage. Also, join us at Skinny Mike's in BGC on Sunday morning to watch the show LIVE!

  • Some other wrestling websites have reported that WrestleMania may be coming to Minnesota after the Vikings NFL team promoted their new stadium. The PR is quoted as saying "...you know we've got WrestleMania coming," but the WWE has issued an official statement shortly after saying that they have not announced any venues for WrestleMania 2017 yet. (Source: WrestlingInc and WWE)

We say: It's just another case of other wrestling journalists taking something and wildly misinterpreting it for clicks. That's why you should only read Smark Henry for your daily dose of uncorroborated, unconfirmed wrestling dirt.

  • According to Hulk Hogan, he's still in WWE 2K16. After WWE scoured its entire being to get rid of Hogan and 2K Sports promising to remove him in the game, Hogan stated on Facebook earlier this week that he's still in it. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: We now believe that these are the ramblings of an out-of-touch old man, so we guess the truth remains to be seen.

What do you think? Do you still want to play as Hulk Hogan in 2K16? Which match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn are you most anticipating? Let us know!
