Breaking News: Snuka Charged With Murder

Add this up to a rather eventful week in wrestling news stories: WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was arrested and charged for murder today.

Lehigh County, PA prosecutors charged the 72-year-old Snuka with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter after the death of his then-girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, on May 1983. An autopsy determined that Argentino died of traumatic injuries, cuts, and bruises "consistent with being hit with a stationary object." Snuka has denied the charges in his autobiography, stating that he never hit or threatened Argentino, and to this day he continues to receive threats about the incident.

Snuka, who has won many championships all over the world in a career that spans over three decades, is noted by many wrestlers as their inspiration to get into pro wrestling. His athletic build and ability—combined with the legendary Superfly Splash—continues to be one of the most well-known pieces in the WWE highlight reel.

Snuka was sent to Lehigh County Jail, and is set to post a portion of his $100,000 bail. The WWE has issued a statement as well:
WWE expresses its continued sympathy to the Argentino family for their loss. Ultimately this legal matter will be decided by our judicial system.
We'll keep you posted on this breaking news story as it develops.
