#MustWatchMonday: Terry Funk's (Literal) Burning Passion

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Throughout the wrestling world, you'll see many examples of this statement. Despite a rising independent presence in the WWE, John Cena is still one of the top dogs. TNA, for as much as it has tried to reinvent things, still remains a joke to a lot of smarks.

And then there is Terry Funk, still alive and kicking, still taking part in insane spots.

Yes, that's Terry Funk, at the relatively young age of 71, taking a fireball to the face. Yes, that's also Jerry "The King" Lawler, who is apparently still cleared to wrestle despite suffering a life-threatening heart attack on Monday Night RAW (said heart attack has been declared an anomaly, as Lawler is in very good shape for someone his age). Funk's incredible longevity has been one of the few constant things in wrestling, and while it's concerning that he's still taking in these insane spots, you have to be in awe at just how he manages to do it. This looks like a man who isn't ever going to be separated from wrestling, until the day Death comes swooping by.

For what it's worth, this was billed as Funk vs. Lawler: One Last Time, which is wrestlingspeak for "We'll see them face each other again" (references: Cena, John; Johnson, Dwayne; Once in a Lifetime). Of course, Funk's already announced his retirement a million times at this point, so expect to see him make news again in a couple months' time with some other insane spot in the ring.
