The Grapevine (10/1/15): The Dolph Ziggler is a Sleazeball Edition

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, where we round up the (technically unconfirmed) rumors from the wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

Looks like something fishy (and, well, new) is afoot:

  • Is Dolph Ziggler feuding with John Cena next? The latest season of Total Divas has been all about a storyline where Ziggler tries to kiss Nikki Bella, whom he used to date. The only other evidence that points toward this happening is a tweet Nikki sent right after the show's latest season finale. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: This sounds like typical dirtsheet rumormongering. Although it would fit right in with Ziggler's current playboy character, for this to actually be a storyline on RAW, they'd have to overtly acknowledge that Cena is in a relationship with Nikki—at this point, it's only been subtly referenced to (even though their relationship is shown fully on Total Divas; don't ask us, we don't write the shows). And then there's the issue of Cena/Ziggler just ending in a Ziggler loss despite being must-watch television.

  • This week's episode of RAW did even worse numbers than last week's, which was said to be the lowest-rated episode ever. Vince is now putting "enormous pressure" on the Creative team to do better. (Source: WON)

We say: That does explain a lot as to why the formula seems different lately. MDJ is going to explain today in an all-new Best for Business why that shouldn't be so much cause for panic, but if they really want to do something about it, we suggest Vince lets the Creative team be creative for once and to not bog down their ideas with his juvenile whims. (If we believe all the stories writers have told about him regarding his creative process.)

  • Vader has reportedly been offered $5,000 to participate in a shoot fight. The former World Heavyweight Champion, who was last seen on TV in an episode of Impact Wrestling, is still contemplating the offer, which has come from a yet-unknown company. The company was reportedly not any of the major MMA/fight leagues in the States. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: File this under "Most Random Wrestling-Related News of the Week," we guess.

What do you think? Would you want to see Dolph Ziggler feud with John Cena? What changes does WWE need to make when it comes to RAW? Let us know what you think in the comments!
