The Grapevine (10/16/15): Temple Woes

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, where we round up the (technically unconfirmed) rumors from the wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We've got some Lucha Underground dirt for the believers in and of the Temple:

  • It turns out Alberto El Patron is not yet confirmed for the show's second season. Del Rio disproved on Twitter a report that he was, and apparently there are financial and creative issues regarding his deal. Alberto is currently the highest-paid member of the roster, and he was told that the show would be built around him when he got there. Right now it seems as though he's still kept in the dark about season two, and he could easily get out of his contract. TNA, NJPW, and WWE are interested in him. (Source: WON)

We say: Uh-oh. That explains a whole lot, actually. It's no secret that El Patron is a bit of a hothead, especially on social media, and now we know why he took issue with being the opening match of Ultima Lucha's second half. Not that we want to promote bratty behavior, but if you tell one guy something and do something else, of course it's going to piss him off. It's not a good past few months for Alberto's reputation; first he misses a (charity) show in Texas, then wXw accuses him of holding them up for money, and now this.

  • In more Lucha Underground news, the show getting a second season came as a surprise to the WWE. Turns out they were interested in signing Angelico, Prince Puma, and another unnamed Lucha Underground star. Puma, who is currently Apollo Crews's roommate, is apparently such a top prospect that they were willing to fast-track him to matches with Finn Balor if they ever got to land him. (Source: WON)

We say: This would be such a selfish reason to wish LU never got renewed, but the very notion of these guys tearing it up in NXT makes us SO HYPED.

  • We can now confirm that Leva "Blue Pants" Bates is done with NXT. She apparently did ruffle some feathers with how over she was, but her run was supposed to end with Alexa Bliss beating her after TakeOver: Brooklyn. Officials were aware of her overness, which seems to be the only reason they brought her out to be the Vaudevillains' valet in Brooklyn. (Source: WON)

We say: Pro wrestling is like high school, guys. Always remember that.

What do you think? Lucha Underground fans, would you be okay with the show not being built around El Patron? Where else would you want to see him? Which LU stars would you want to see on NXT? Let us know what you think in the comments!
