The NXT Grapevine, November 2015 Edition: The Darkest Timeline

Earlier today, NXT just taped its next set of episodes set to air starting on November 4. Moving forward, we're starting a new column here at Smark Henry where we break down these tapings and take a look at where the future of WWE is headed. For those of you who can't wait to talk about NXT before the tapings air, read on below!

WARNING: We're going to be talking about episodes of NXT that have not aired yet, so turn back before you read the spoilers below. Otherwise, read on!

November 4th Episode:

  • Asuka def. Cameron via submission
  • Bull Dempsey def. Angelo Dawkins
  • Eva Marie def. Marley
  • NXT Championship Match: Apollo Crews vs. Finn Balor (c) ended in a double DQ after Baron Corbin came out and attacked both men. Samoa Joe ran down for the save but later turned on Balor to end the show.

Thoughts: Here we're seeing the Women's division continue to take shape, with Asuka and Eva Marie (get your botch counters ready for this) picking up wins to further establish themselves. The main pickup from this episode, though, is that Samoa Joe is set to turn heel. They've been teasing a Samoa Joe-Finn Balor feud since the Dusty Rhodes Classic, and it looks like we're getting that soon.

Oh, and apparently Cameron is still alive. I wonder if her favorite match is still Melina vs. Alicia Fox.

November 11th Episode:
  • Adrien Reese (formerly Athena from Shimmer) def. Peyton Royce
  • Baron Corbin vs. Tye Dillinger does not start as Apollo Crews ran out and attacked Corbin before the match.
  • The team of Bayley and the Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) def. BAMF (Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss)
  • Nia Jax def. Deonna Purrazzo
  • NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Mechanics (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) def. The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) (c) to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions
  • Samoa Joe got into a confrontation with Finn Balor, where they had to be separated by referees.

Thoughts: Fresh off the previous episode's ending, Apollo Crews looks like he's in for a feud with Baron Corbin. This should be an interesting matchup considering the vastly different styles these two men work, with Crews continuing to establish himself in NXT. Huge result with the tag team titles changing hands, as it feels like the Vaudevillains haven't really gotten enough time to run with the belts. This unpredictability in the tag team division is a welcome change, though.

Also, Adrien Reese makes her debut! There was some news of this signing a while back, and it looks like it's true. If you haven't seen her work before, you really should. Easily one of the most talented female wrestlers out there, and she's another solid talent to join NXT. With talents like Reese and Asuka coming in over the past couple of months, it looks like they're slowly filling in the large hole left by the main roster promotion demotion of Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Charlotte.

November 18th Episode:
  • Nia Jax def. Carmella
  • The team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan def. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor)
  • Emma def. Mary Kate
  • The Mechanics (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) def. the team of Corey Hollis and John Skyler
  • NXT Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) def. Alexa Bliss to retain the Women's Championship. After the match, Eva Marie came out to challenge Bayley to a future title match.

Thoughts: Nia Jax continues to dominate on NXT, this time defeating someone we actually care about in Carmella. The rising team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan continue to build momentum with another win, and you have to wonder how long it'll take before they're challenging for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Speaking of, new tag champs the Mechanics picked up a win over some enhancement talent, which should further give them credibility.

Sadly, it looks like the Bayley-Alexa Bliss feud comes to a rather early end, with Bayley successfully retaining her championship. Even worse: Eva Marie is set to be her next challenger. We are officially in the darkest timeline, folks.
