The Grapevine (12/9/15): Booyaka Boyle Heights

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Grapevine, where we round up the (technically unconfirmed) rumors from the wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

Lucha Underground lost one big star, but it's getting another boost:

  • Rey Mysterio is apparently really close to joining Lucha Underground, if he hasn't already. Some sources have noted that he will be appearing at the show's next tapings this Saturday. If he does appear, it's highly unlikely he will be wrestling as he seems to have aggravated existing knee injuries after being seen on crutches during last Saturday's AAA tapings. We say: This is some definitely interesting news, but is it too little, too late? It feels like they took forever to land Rey, and now that they're close to doing so, he's injured. On the other hand, Lucha Underground has proven itself to be a show that thrives on its young blood, never needing too much of its lucha royalty (e.g. Blue Demon, Chavo, Vampiro) to drive the show. Let's see how Rey fits into everything the way he is now.

  • The New Day have been making great sales on their merchandise, which was the main reason for them getting new unicorn horn merchandise this Monday on RAW. The horns sold out in only five hours. Xavier Woods' UpUpDownDown shirts are also selling really well. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: It looks like the New Day is literally money. Will this lead to a face turn? It should be great with the right opponent.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Rey Mysterio on Lucha Underground? Let us know what you think in the comments!
