The Grapevine (1/13/16): The Hump Day Roundup

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grapevine! This is our daily post rounding up all the interesting rumors from the wild, wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

  • Even though she frowned upon the injury rumors when it was reported, Sasha Banks is reportedly out with an MCL injury. She reacted negatively to the news but did not categorically deny them. The knee injury, however, seems to be minor and she will be back in February. Meanwhile, Paige is out with a slight concussion.

Also, Dave Meltzer notes Rusev also slightly injured his knee last weekend, but Rusev denied these rumors on Twitter. (Source: PWInsider, WrestlingInc, Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: That explains why Becky/Charlotte is taking center stage. Not that we're complaining, though. The downtime is actually good for the division altogether, and hopefully they can regroup into something better for WrestleMania.

Regarding this news as a whole, though, is the WWE telling its stars to deny injury rumors? If that's the case, wouldn't they look worse for it if people do eventually find out their employees have been working injured?

  • There seems to be a storyline between NXT and EVOLVE Wrestling in the works. William Regal, Jason Jordan, and Chad Gable will be appearing at EVOLVE 54 on January 23, with the American Alphas signing autographs at the event and Regal is apparently there for a storyline reason. Ticket sales for the show apparently rose after the announcement, which was both initiated and finalized last week. The pre-show training seminar also filled out after the announcement, with aspiring indy wrestlers seeing it as a possible way into NXT. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: Can we please sign Timothy Thatcher, Zack Sabre, and a certain former X Division champion that was just released today?

  • As talk of the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame class heats up, some of the names rumored to go in include legend Stan Hansen and possibly JBL. Sting is already confirmed and headlining the class, and the entire Fabulous Freebirds as well as Vader are rumored to go in. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: We're only going to begrudgingly allow JBL in, but if we had it our way, his contemporary announcing should leave him out.
