The Grapevine (1/15/16): This Is Your WrestleMania Main Event (Right Now)

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grapevine! This is our daily post rounding up all the interesting rumors from the wild, wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We have more updates on the WrestleMania main event:

  • The WrestleMania main event is currently Roman Reigns vs. Triple H. We reported yesterday on how Fastlane was being treated as a top-priority show on the Road to WrestleMania and that the Royal Rumble finish was already written. The Rock is pretty much confirmed to not be wrestling, despite having a "big surprise" planned, due to the previously reported insurance issues with a movie he's filming. Meanwhile, there is still no word on potential opponents for either Brock Lesnar or the Undertaker. (Source: WON)

We say: That means three things: either Triple H is going to win the Royal Rumble (which would honestly not be a good move on paper in 2016, but booked right it could go well), Roman Reigns is going to win the Royal Rumble (a better move, but needs great booking), or this match will not be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (highly unlikely if it's main-eventing). None of the options look really palatable in theory, but we'll keep our eyes and minds open to see how they pull it off—if they pull it off.

  • Tyler Breeze was supposed to be pushed as a top midcard heel. Triple H wanted Breeze protected because he saw something in him, and originally Vince McMahon agreed to it. However, Vince soon changed his mind after he wasn't convinced by Breeze, and ended the push. (Source: WON)

We say: Truthfully, Breeze isn't that great (we wouldn't consider him to be a top anything) but he didn't get that much of a shot. It's easy to be unconvinced and blame that disinterest on the performer, but it's not like they set him up enough for people to care about him. So he's a supermodel and he looks good and he has a giant furry selfie stick, but nobody told us what he was all about. People really are right to stay down in NXT.

  • There are apparently no more plans for Zeb Colter from here on out. He was last seen, as everyone knows, managing Alberto del Rio soon after both men's returns in the flopped MexAmerica storyline. (Source: WON)

We say: Happy trails, creepy Uncle Zeb. (Although they should really just give him back to Jack Swagger so he can be a heel America likes to cheer.)

What do you think? Do you want to see Triple H vs. Roman Reigns close out the show? Who do you want to see Undertaker and Lesnar face (that hopefully aren't each other)? Let us know what you think in the comments!
