The Grapevine (3/22/16): Rydermania

Good morning, and welcome to the daily Grapevine! Here is where we round up all the rumors, hearsay and tidbits of news from the wild world of professional wrestling that you may have missed over the night.

It's a slow news week so far, but there seems to be something in the pipeline for RAW:

  • There seems to be a segment for Zack Ryder on this week's episode. Reddit user falconarrow, who's previously hinted at Shane McMahon's return and Sami Zayn's RAW debut, says we'll "all figure out what Zack Ryder is doing at WrestleMania" and that he sees him "doing great things."

We say: This could mean just about anything, but when falconarrow speaks up, we've learned to listen. We're keeping our eyes peeled tonight.

  • You may have heard over the weekend that TNA originals Bobby Roode and Eric Young left the company after years of service. Eric Young, who everyone knew as someone completely loyal to the company, was reportedly upset with new signees or returning TNA wrestlers getting better deals than he did. Bobby Roode, on the other hand, was one of the highest-paid talents in the company and TNA couldn't keep paying him that much, in addition to not maximizing his potential for revenue. Roode had actually signed a new deal, but requested to leave anyway due to "more frustrations." (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Although restructuring the company around dynamic new talents is a good thing, it's a damn shame that TNA can't keep the people they've built the brand on. The company's going through a transition phase that they need the old stalwarts for, and they'd do best to utilize them more to pass the torch on to the untested young lions. The company will survive these losses, but it could have been prevented.

What do you think? Would you want to see Zack Ryder in a higher-profile role at the big show? What do you feel about Roode and EY leaving? Let us know what you think in the comments!
