The Grapevine (3/4/16): The Underdog's Going To Mania

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This is where we round up the most interesting rumors and news happening in the wild world of wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We have news on a certain NXT star performing at WrestleMania this year. Let's go!

  • Sami Zayn is apparently scheduled to wrestle at WrestleMania 32. No further details have been provided on which match he'll be working, but expect him to show up at RAW and SmackDown pretty soon to promote this. (Source: WON)

We say: We're betting it's most likely the multi-man match for Kevin Owens's Intercontinental Championship, as it's the only thing that makes sense (unless they also want to bring up Nakamura at Mania). Either way, this is a surprise—we'd rather have Sami than Finn Balor on the main roster right now, even though we'd prefer to keep both in NXT. Either way, best to take this news with a grain of salt right now.

  • Original plans for Roadblock called for Triple H to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat. Lesnar is now scheduled to face Bray Wyatt at the event instead of Luke Harper. (Source: WON)

We say: At least the Wyatt Family feud gets some closure? That still doesn't provide an obvious thing for Bray to do at Mania, though.

  • If anyone's been wondering whether the Styles Clash has been banned, the answer is (obviously) not. Vince McMahon did hear about Yoshi Tatsu getting injured after taking the move, which led him to advise caution in using the move. WWE officials asked AJ Styles to go with the Calf Crusher as his main finisher instead, but Chris Jericho wanted it to be done in their match because he knew it would get a reaction. They did so and there were no issues, allowing Styles to do the move as he pleases—although officials would probably still rather want him to go with the Calf Crusher. (Source: WON)

We say: Glad to see that's all cleared up. The Styles Clash is relatively safe; a lot of the injuries surrounding it come from wrestlers who don't know that they're not supposed to tuck their chins.

What do you think? Should Sami Zayn be wrestling at WrestleMania? Do you want to see him win the Intercontinental Championship? Let us know what you think in the comments!
