The Grapevine (4/28/16): The Antics of Drunk Uncle Ric

Good morning, and welcome to the daily Grapevine! Here is where we round up all the rumors, hearsay and tidbits of news from the wild world of professional wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

You may have heard that Ric Flair hasn't been up to any good lately:

  • Although reports claim that Ric Flair was drunk in a Boston airport, this apparently was not true. Naitch had to be treated for a cut on his hand, and even though witnesses claim he was acting like an "inebriated person," an airport police sergeant claimed that he was not in fact drunk and was allowed to take his flight. (Source: TMZ, WrestlingInc)

We say: Either one of two things are true: Ric was actually drunk (which might be his default state) or people just aren't aware that normal Ric seems drunk all the time. Also, it hasn't really been a good week for Ric, what with this and inadvertently telling Natalya to "kill herself" on SmackDown.

  • There is word that Bray Wyatt's timetable is actually six to eight weeks. We previously reported that his calf injury was said to not be serious, and that his timetable was four to six weeks. (Source: Wrestling Observer Live)

We say: It has to be considered that Bryan Alvarez was the guy who reported this, and he claimed that the Hell in a Cell match was closing WrestleMania. Four to six weeks it probably is.

  • Lorenzo Lamas reportedly did not need to audition for Lucha Underground. The latino cult star is friends with LU producer Eric van Wegenen, who he worked with back in Celebrity Apprentice. The rest of the LU officials were pretty excited to have him on board the show. Needless to say, Lamas will be appearing in more episodes of the show. (Source: Pro Wrestling Sheet)

We say: We'll be honest—some of us are too young to really know who Double L is, but apparently the ones who do are pretty stoked to see him on the show. Another legit actor besides Luis Fernandez-Gil (the guy who plays El Jefe) should be good for the quality of acting on the show.

What do you think? Was Flair actually drunk? Let us know what you think in the comments!
