The Grapevine (4/6/16): The Post-WrestleMania Weekend Rumor Bag

Good morning, and welcome to the daily Grapevine! Here is where we round up all the rumors, hearsay and tidbits of news from the wild world of professional wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We waited until after the RAW after Mania for this gigantic mailbag:

  • Despite appearing in a pretty physical segment at WrestleMania, John Cena is not yet ready to return to the ring. Although he told Complex that he was cleared to return, it seems as though it's really not true as he wasn't on RAW. Cena might not be back in action until May or June at the earliest. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: As much as the product might need Cena and fans are missing him, we think it's fine. There are a lot of young guys waiting in the wings for a chance to step up, and this star vacuum might be what we need to force Vince to finally create new superstars.

  • On that note, the Authority might finally be going away for a while soon. Reddit user Falconarrow says as much, and he has a proven track record, breaking news of the Women's Championship reveal, Shane McMahon's return, and many other things. (Source: Reddit)

We say: Although we don't have a huge problem with the Authority, we can accept that a lot of people would be very happy over this development. It is time for something new, after all.

  • Sami Zayn being replaced in the main event Fatal Four Way by Cesaro was the plan all along. For anyone worried that Sami got injured again, it was a work to give way to the returning Cesaro. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: Gotcha!

  • Dutch media mogul John de Mol might be interested in buying WWE if Vince McMahon puts it up for sale. De Mol, who's behind reality TV production house Endemol, already has a 6% stake in the WWE through his company Talpa Beheer. A spokesperson for de Mol refused to comment on the issue, and WWE shut down the rumors by saying that they're not looking to sell. (Source: The New York Post)

We say: Sorry, but the company's going to be in the family for a long time, even after Vince dies.

What do you think? Do you want to see John Cena back already? Let us know what you think in the comments!
