The Grapevine (5/18/16): Substitution

Good morning, Henrinites, and welcome to your daily Grapevine! Here is where we round up all the rumors, news and bits of hearsay in the wild world of professional wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

Not a lot of news today (we're consciously not reporting that bit of big news going around since the weekend):

  • AJ Styles's nagging injuries might be the reason why Finn Balor is getting the call soon. As previously reported, Styles had been pulled from live events over the weekend in order for him to rest more. He apparently has an ankle injury on top of the back injury he's had since last year. (Source: Daily Wrestling News)

We say: Well, the only way we'll know any of this is true is whether ol' Finn finally shows up sometime next week.

  • There are no immediate plans to film a second season of The Edge and Christian Show (That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness). The show's first season finale aired last night after RAW. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Considering the amount of kayfabe-breaking and taboo-flirting the two legends have done on their show, we wouldn't be surprised if Vince doesn't greenlight a new season (whenever he gets unfrozen, that is). But the strong reactions to the show arguably make it one of the best, if not the best of the Network's original programming, and it does need to come back. With more time and better pacing.

  • The reason why people believed Lilian Garcia was released is because of a memo putting her on a list of talent being let go. For some reason, she was included in the list even though she merely filed a personal leave. Many people Dave Meltzer spoke to in the company thought she really had left because of the list, and WWE did not bother to provide any clarification on whether they had actually released Lilian. We say: Wow, what a mess. How hard was it for WWE to release an announcement stating Lilian was still employed? Do they hate her that much?

Let us know what you think about this week's news in the comments!
