WWE RAW Results (8/22/16): Title Reign, Interrupted

Monday night in Brooklyn, the inaugural Universal Champion is forced to vacate his title.

Finn Balor suffered a shoulder injury at the hands of Seth Rollins, whom he defeated just last night at SummerSlam to become the champion. The Demon King thanked the WWE Universe – including Rollins – and vowed to come back for the title.

After Balor surrendered the title to RAW GM Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, out came Rollins, who gloated about what he has done, and demanded that he be crowned the new Universal Champion.

But Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and Roman Reigns headed out one by one to disagree. Foley and Steph then announced that there will be a series of matches among these Superstars.

Road to fatal 4-way

Seth Rollins took out Sami Zayn from title contention. Then, Kevin Owens defeated Neville.

Meanwhile, Big Cass advanced after an injured United States Champion Rusev lost via count-out. And in the main event, Roman Reigns defeated Chris Jericho.

Rollins, Owens, Big Cass, and Reigns will be in a Fatal Four-Way match next week to determine the new Universal Champion.

New Women's champ, new superstar

Less than 24 hours after SummerSlam, Charlotte relished in defeating Sasha Banks to regain the WWE Women's Championship. With Dana Brooke by her side, Charlotte proclaimed that there's nobody in the back that could match up to her.

Not so fast, said GM Mick Foley, who announced RAW's latest acquisition: Bayley!

Bayley issued a challenge for the Women's title, but Charlotte said she has to go to the back of the line. Foley then booked Bayley in a match against Dana Brooke!

True to form, Bayley connected with a Bayley to Belly suplex on Dana for the win.

One year as tag champs

The New Day celebrated their one full year as WWE Tag Team Champions, and their momentum continued Monday, when the returning Big E defeated Karl Anderson.

Goodbye to the Dudleys?

After decades of competing in ECW and WWE, The Dudley Boyz were set to bid farewell to the WWE. But it looks like some tag teams aren't done with the duo.

The Shining Stars, Primo and Epico, were out first to disrespect the Dudleys. They got beat up pretty quick, but as they went to grab tables from under the ring, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson hit the Magic Killer on both Bubba Ray at ringside and D-Von in the ring through a table!

Titus attacks

Titus O'Neil lashed out on Bob Backlund and Darren Young, apparently fed up by Young being trained by the former WWE Champion to be great again. He called out Young himself, but it was Backlund who responded.

Titus then dropped Backlund with a slam, prompting Young to rush to the ring. Titus met him with a Clash of the Titus!

The rest of RAW

Braun Strowman again made quick work of another local competitor, Johnny Knockout.
