The Grapevine (10/14/16): Torn Paige

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

The very public feud between WWE and Paige is starting to get a little petty:

  • WWE doesn't believe Paige needs neck surgery. Paige, who has been suspended once again for her second violation of the WWE Wellness Policy, has been with a nagging neck injury which she claims is the reason for her violation. TMZ and PWInsider claim that she will be out 6-9 months because her doctors think she needs surgery, but WWE apparently doesn't believe so. If they really believe that she doesn't need the surgery, they might not pay for it. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: It's really, really hard to tell which side is being petty in this one. On one hand, it's definitely hard to fake a neck injury, but on the other, how much of this is Paige trying to get out of her WWE contract? But if we were her, we wouldn't have to fake a neck injury to get out of it. It's going to look really bad on the company's part if they let this slide and something bad happens to her.

  • Billy Corgan has sued TNA and Dixie Carter. In a bizarre turn of events in this TNA power struggle, the Smashing Pumpkins vocalist and current TNA President filed a restraining order against Dixie and the company. No word yet on why Billy has filed a restraining order, of all things, but this doesn't seem to be a work—their relationship has completely deteriorated after Dixie made a lot of deals she couldn't back up, putting the company in what is said to be a "disastrous" position. WWE and an unidentified third party are said to have backed out of negotiations for TNA, believing that it isn't worth the purchase. (Source: WON)

We say: Calling it here—TNA does not live to see 2017. And with all the former TNA stars jumping ship to NXT, there's not a lot left for them to pick up.

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments! Stay tuned for the NXT Grapevine later today!
