The Grapevine (11/1/16): Cell's the Limit

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

This is could be why Sasha Banks lost last night:

  • Sasha Banks was apparently originally supposed to retain the RAW Women's Championship at the Hell in a Cell match, but Vince McMahon changed the finish. The exact reason why isn't known yet, but it seems one of the reasons is to set up a Charlotte vs. Bayley feud for the title. (Source: F4WOnline)

We say: The only acceptable reason here should be "Sasha Banks needs to rest her broken back." Anything other than that and you've blown what should have been a great moment last night.

  • If you're waiting for Eva Marie to return to SmackDown Live, it may be this week or next. Her filming with Nicolas Cage on Inconceivable just wrapped. (Source: Daily Wrestling News)

We say: The SmackDown Women's division has carved itself a nice little space while she was gone, but this should be fun. Not sure how they're going to pull this off with Curt Hawkins doing the exact same gimmick, though.

  • The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived may be gone until 2017. Austin Aries' gruesome eye injury from a stiff Shinsuke Nakamura strike at the live NXT Fresno show last week turned out to be a major orbital fracture that will require some serious reconstructive surgery this week. Expectations are for him to be out for the rest of the year while he recovers. (Source: All Wrestling News)

Shinsuke Nakamura has always been one eye-popping athlete, and it looks like he went all Negan on Aries' Glenn. Sucks to see yet another big NXT name go down with an injury, but hey, the roster is pretty stacked, and we still haven't seen past alumni like Apollo Crews, Neville, Tyler Breeze, and Baron Corbin truly break out yet on the main roster. Let's take it slow with AA.
