Chris Jericho, Real-Life Good Guy

He might be calling all of us stupid idiots and putting us on The List, but brand-new WWE United States Champion and certified Grand Slammer Chris Jericho just proved once more that he's truly one of pro wrestling's real-life good guys.

The 46-year old Jericho (real name: Chris Irvine) stepped in and donated the entire $2,500 requested by the mother of recently-deceased Timothy Alan Smith on GoFundMe. Smith, who passed away destitute at age 55 due to kidney failure, was perhaps best known as Rex King, a mainstay on the PNW/USWA tag team scene with Steve Doll, and performed briefly for the WWF in the mid-90s as Timothy Well of the Well Dunn tag team.

The original plea for funds by Smith's mother read as follows:

Timothy Smith, WWF Rex King/Tim Well died 01/09, peacefully with his Mother by his side, from complications from his WWF/WCW 22 year career; Has been incapacitated for last several years; need help with funeral costs. Survived by son, Travis, parents and siblings. Will apprciate any help received. Thanks to all who have loved and supported him throughout the years, Shirley Fellows, Mom.
Help spread the word!

Jericho pledged the entire amount under his real name, leaving a brief note on how Smith had always been good to him in the past.

Rex was a good guy who was always good to me! Hopefully he has found peace and is with the Lord now. -CJ

Now that's the real Gift of Jericho. Here's hoping though that he doesn't start coming out to the ring in Well's trademark bowtie-and-thong gear.
