The Grapevine (1/19/17): Hear 'Em Roar

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

After the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, another one is confirmed to be on the way:

  • Triple H has confirmed plans for a WWE Women's tournament on the Network. He talked about the plans he had in an interview in the FOX Sports wrestling podcast, basically confirming that management went back and forth with it in looking for the right people, time, and place for the tournament. Triple H hopes to push through with the tournament this summer. (Source: FOX Sports Wrestling Compadres Slamcast)

We say: Sounds great, then. Triple H just needs to figure out how they're going to integrate and assimilate the women he'll be fielding for his tournament into the greater WWE picture. There wasn't a similar concrete plan for the British wrestlers, but this should be huge for representation and women's wrestling.

  • Kenny Omega really isn't showing up for Royal Rumble. On top of his NJPW contract expiring on the 31st, he's been booked for an appearance on the 28th in Chile along with Matt Sydal. However, this doesn't completely disprove Kenny signing with the WWE, as there as no concrete news yet of his re-signing with NJPW. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: Chile is an interesting place to be in and wrestle, that's for sure. (And it's relatively closer to North America.)

  • Darren Young's injury is a hyperextended elbow that led to a dislocation and fracture. It isn't sure how long he'll be out for. (Source: Twitter)

We say: Wishing for D-Young's speedy recovery... even though there's not much to come back to on RAW.
