The Grapevine (3/17/17): The Definition Of Insanity

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

We haven't even gotten WrestleMania 33 out of the way yet, and we apparently already have a main event for next year's WrestleMania:

  • WWE wants to have Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34. Apparently, they want to build up Reigns for another year, culminating at WrestleMania in New Orleans. Meanwhile, they'll be having Brock Lesnar work more dates in his part-time schedule. (Source: WON)

We say: Look, sometimes we can be optimists, too. We're not really surprised that this is a thing they want to do, because Vince McMahon. So if we really, really wanna do this, then let's grab the low-hanging fruit and do the obvious thing already: turn Reigns heel, and position Lesnar as the anti-hero everyone loves, because most people love him than Reigns anyway.

  • The RAW Women's Championship match for WrestleMania may still see one more addition. It's currently advertised as a triple threat with Bayley defending the title against Charlotte and Sasha Banks, but they're still looking to add either Nia Jax or Dana Brooke to the match. (Source: WON)

We say: Honestly, the triple threat is the best you can do with the RAW scene, considering that SmackDown wants to have more women in its match.

  • Rusev is out for two months following shoulder surgery last week. The injury, which apparently happened long before Fastlane, was the reason why he lost to Big Show and why his erstwhile alliance with Jinder Mahal was ended. Lana has been called back to the Performance Center in preparation for some more ring time, presumably on RAW. (Source: WON)

We say: We wish the Handsome One well in his recovery, and look forward to see more Lana in the ring.

  • There are rumors of WWE wanting Jim Cornette to induct the Rock 'n' Roll Express into the Hall of Fame. That would be a huge deal considering Cornette's relationship with the company (and with modern pro wrestling in general), but there's speculation that he would want a chance to put the team over one more time. (Source: WON)

We say: That would really, really be interesting if there was any part of this that was true.
