The Grapevine (6/16/17): Beast Versus Monster

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Your favorite Monster Among Men is coming back sooner than you think:

  • Braun Strowman is apparently scheduled to wrestle at Great Balls of Fire on July 9 against Roman Reigns. Strowman, who had been sidelined for the past month thanks to a minor elbow surgery, will be cleared to return to action soon, and is still on track to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. This may be what Reigns's announcement next week will be all about. (Source: WON)

We say: It's a good thing, then. RAW doesn't lose one of their up-and-coming stars as feared, but we just wonder what exactly is in store for him when he faces off with Brock at SummerSlam. Will it be the same thing as what's in store for Joe?

  • Kurt Angle is being considered for a program with Triple H. The timetable is said to be "in the near future," and involves the little angle Kurt (pun not intended) has with Corey Graves and his text message. RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon is scheduled to return to TV soon and may be involved in this storyline. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: Judging from that "near future" hint and the way they're building it up now, it seems like the program is headed for SummerSlam as well. We wish Angle were facing someone younger, but if that were to happen it seems as though they're saving it for WrestleMania. Well, hopefully.

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments!
