Two Championship Matches To Headline PWR Live: Sugod!

It's no joke when they say heavy is the head that wears the crown.

With the Philippine Wrestling Revolution bringing its one-of-a-kind slam-bang action for a trilogy of shows at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati, the country's premier pro wrestling promotion is stepping up its game to end the greatest year of local pro wrestling with a bang.

First up is PWR Live: Sugod!, scheduled to happen this Sunday, September 3. While most of the roster is battered and bruised from PWR's marathon performance at the 2017 AsiaPOP Comicon, there's no excuse to back down when championship gold is at stake.

The rest of the card has yet to be announced, but as early as now, we already know the two title matches that will be headlining the card.

PWR Championship: Ralph Imabayashi vs. Chris Panzer vs. "Beautiful" Billy Suede (c)

For the fourth time since June, Chris Panzer and Billy Suede will be meeting to contest the right to be called Kampeon ng Pilipinas. But this time around, there's going to be a massive wild card thrown into the works: former PWR Champion Ralph Imabayashi.

While Panzer is sure to be salivating about the chance to tie his personal series with Suede at 2-2, he's going to have to deal with the Pinoy Strong Style assault of the Fil-Japanese Sensation, who seems to have recovered fully from his dislocated shoulder a couple of shows back and is raring to ride his #RespectProWrestling crusade to the top of the mountain.

Imabayashi is red-hot lately. Not only has he picked up a couple of monster wins against another former PWR Champion in Jake De Leon the past few months, he's unveiled a deadly new move into his arsenal: Senketsu, a Gotch-style reverse piledriver that translates to "fresh blood" in English.

But Panzer is no slouch himself. Until his pair of defeats to Billy Suede, he was kicking ass with a PWR-record eight-match winning streak. Don't expect his one-off "Manila Baes" tag team formation with the dashing Brad Cruz to steal his focus; the Leader of the Panzer Army has one thing on his mind: to return to the top of PWR.

Billy Suede is an entirely different animal though. He's a world-class talent who's had the opportunity to showcase his skills against all kinds of foes all over the globe. He's fast, polished, and owns perhaps the most strategic mind in Philippine wrestling today. His dozen years of experience have gifted him with a grab-bag of tricks sure to overwhelm less seasoned foes—which both Imabayashi and Panzer happen to be, with less than six years of combined experience between the two of them.

This will be a sensational main event guaran-damn-teed to have the live crowd roaring with approval. But when all is said and done, expect the Beautiful One to keep his championship reign alive.

Fearless forecast: Billy Suede retains the PWR Championship

PHX Championship: SANDATA vs. "The Walking Death" Mike Madrigal (c)

Mike Madrigal may have failed to set the tag team scene on fire through his short-lived partnership with Vlad Sinnsyk in the Deadly Sinns, but he's skyrocketed to the top of the singles scene after blowing through four other men on his way to victory in the PHX Championship Tournament.

One of those men happens to be SANDATA, however, who similarly made it all the way to the PHX finals only to fall in defeat after eating a pair of Go To Sleep finishers from the foul-mouthed resident of Valle Verde. We're pretty sure he's tired of all his failed attempts to break through the PWR glass ceiling, and is looking to prove he isn't 2017's greatest choke artist.

The Pinoy Tecnico hasn't competed one-on-one for a championship since falling to then-PHX Champion Main Maxx in late 2016, and fell short in a #1 contenders match for the PWR Championship this year. But rather than discourage him, this pair of failures seems to be fueling his hunger even more rabidly. He's in the best shape of his life—and arguably the second-best-conditioned athlete in PWR today, next only to Billy Suede—and is looking for some gold to finally wipe away memories of his career-opening 0-7 losing streak.

Don't sleep on Madrigal though. The MMA-trained combatant is the real deal, with a variety of moves that can deliver a flash knockout if his opponent lets his guard down. Whether its his patented Go To Sleep or his Near-Death Experience pumphandle driver variant, he's got all the weapons he needs to stay on top of the PHX division for a long time to come. And for all the failures he experienced during his tag team run, he got to demonstrate one thing: his incredible resilience. This guy is practically indestructible, as evidenced by his opening-round win in the PHX Tournament against Sinnsyk even after taking a devastating Muscle Buster into the apron.

You're going to have to kill Mike Madrigal to defeat him, and somehow we feel SANDATA doesn't have what it takes to fire that final bullet. This is a potential match of the night that's likely going to end with Madrigal cementing his PHX Championship reign with his first title defense.

Fearless forecast: Mike Madrigal retains the PHX Championship
