Samoa Joe Injured, Could Be Out 3-4 Months

Samoa Joe suffered another injury on RAW during his match with Rhyno yesterday (Manila time). According to WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann, Joe "felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot." After taking a look, the WWE medical staff believe he has a plantar fascia rupture.

A plantar fascia rupture is when there's a thick tissue rupture under your foot. It's similar to the injury that kept plaguing NBA center Joakim Noah between 2010 and 2013, when he was being run into the ground by former coach Tom Thibodeau with the Chicago Bulls.

Various medical websites and blogs outside WWE say that the injury could take anytime from six weeks to four months to heal. The best case scenario is that Joe could be back right in time to set up a WrestleMania program. At worst, he might miss 'Mania again, which makes his conspicuous absence at last year's WrestleMania 33 more frustrating.

That said, Joe noted on RAW yesterday that he has entered his name into this year's Royal Rumble Match. However, there has been no announcement regarding his status in the Rumble.

As of this writing, Samoa Joe has been pulled from the Mixed Match Challenge, where he was originally supposed to team up with Bayley. Elias has since taken his place as Bayley's partner.

We at the Smark Henry offices send positive vibrations out to our favorite Destroyer and hope he recovers fully and doesn't miss too much time in the process.
