The Grapevine (2/8/19): Shoehorn Charlotte

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

It looks like Charlotte will be added to the women's WrestleMania main event after all:

  • Charlotte Flair is reportedly going to be inserted into the Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey match at WrestleMania. There have been some conflicting reports about this, as well as rumors about original plans of Charlotte vs. Rousey at Royal Rumble, but the word is they're doing this due to the reaction the Survivor Series angle got. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: All we need for it is to make sense. Rousey/Lynch is already airtight as a matchup, but it's also not out of the question for a triple threat to be legendary, so the way Charlotte gets into it has to be logical and credible.
  • AEW has reportedly already made a big offer to a current WWE Superstar. However, the name of the Superstar has not been leaked yet, but the source claims that "things will get interesting" and implies that similar offers will be on the way. (Source: @WrestleVotes on Twitter)
We say: Our best guesses are Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles, especially since the latter has also denied that he's re-signed with WWE. Stay tuned.
  • WWE has apparently sent officials to Japan to discuss business relations and pave the way for an NXT Japan. This follows Triple H's statement about Performance Centers opening all around the world, such as India, the Middle East, and Latin America. (Source: WON)
We say: This is definitely interesting, and implies that Asia would be too big for just one regional flavor of NXT.
