The Grapevine (4/5/19): Last Call For New York

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Here's what's cooking for the Women's Championships after WrestleMania:

  • Becky Lynch is reportedly set to win both Women's Championships at the WrestleMania main event. That much may be obvious, but it's also not clear whether both titles will be separated moving forward, as officials are still figuring out what to do with them after WrestleMania. The storyline set for WrestleMania is reportedly about one of the champions seeking revenge for losing the title, but who it will be depends on Ronda Rousey's WWE status after the event. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: We hope Becky just keeps one (probably the RAW Women's Championship) and drops the other back to Asuka or something. Let's not forget Asuka does have a win over Becky from earlier this year.
  • Brock Lesnar was supposed to stand tall at the end of RAW this week. The original plan was to have Lesnar lay Rollins out, but Vince McMahon made a last-minute call to have Rollins stand tall instead. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: We hope that doesn't mean Rollins loses on Sunday, going by traditional wrestling logic.
  • Lars Sullivan is apparently returning soon to WWE. The reports say that he'll be returning "sooner than later" after his debut was delayed by anxiety issues. Sullivan was originally rumored to face John Cena at WrestleMania, but his disappearance has obviously shelved those plans. (Source: WON)
We say: It's great that they're not rushing Lars and he's still got a job to go back to. That's at least one thing the company's doing right.
