#MustWatchMonday (6/10/19): Breaking Free

Hello everyone! Your girl is b-b-b-back from the dead a bunch of stuff that life threw at her to give you the newest #MustWatchMonday!

Let's get it out of the way: Jon Moxley (yes, FKA Dean Ambrose from The Fed) is now IWGP US Heavyweight Champion after beating his former FCW (and eventually NXT) compatriot Juice Robinson in his debut match at the Best of the Super Juniors finals last June 5th.

On the same weekend as Jon's return through a beatdown of Kenny Omega at All Elite Wrestling's Double or Nothing, he was revealed to be the "Time's up" guy whose promos haunted Juice throughout BoSJ.

"This is going to be a fight," Juice said after the revelation, "It's going to be a brawl".

And boy, what a brawl it was.

It was an uncontrollable, reckless mess right from the get-go for all the right reasons. They punched, struck, and bit each other until brawl eventually spilt on the outside, AKA Moxley's natural territory. He threw the champion around, and the champion threw himself around, even jumping from the balcony of Ryogoku Sumo Hall!

The match only got uglier and more brutal as it went on. Juice was willing to sacrifice his body just to defend his title, the only thing that means something to him. While busted open, he powered through a hurting back after missed cannonballs on the barricade and the Japanese table. But those were still no match to Moxley's two Death Riders.

Albeit in quite different ways, Moxley and Robinson took the same path to get where they are right now. This match is the result of both breaking free from WWE's chains. Moxley explained in his post-match promo why he went after Juice for his maiden voyage with the company, and that is to fire him up. It looked like it worked: Juice, ex-hippie turned one of New Japan's hottest babyfaces, declared that CJ Parker is dead.

As with Moxley, he showed everyone what and how Dean Ambrose should have been: the real lunatic fringe who can seemingly murder someone with his bare hands. A violent, straight-up brawler and killer cut from an entirely different cloth from everybody else.

There's a new gaijin sheriff in town, and his name is Jon Moxley. But with the G1 Climax looming in the horizon, Juice Robinson surely isn't far behind.

As someone who just recently turned to Japanese wrestling (full-time ish), she is a sucker for no-sold German suplexes, kick-outs at one-count, and whatever the hell Tetsuya Naito is doing right now. Send her your (joshi) puroresu match recommendations and watch her swoon over Kenny Omega, and Jake Lee at @ardellelledra.
