The Grapevine (6/21/19): Meet Me at the London

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

  • London is now reportedly being considered for a future WrestleMania. A marketing study conducted by the WWE includes the city across the pond as potential destinations, and it's an interesting possibility given the different logistics of setting up an event like WrestleMania abroad. Other interesting options for host cities include Jacksonville and Las Vegas, which are unofficially AEW strongholds. (Source: WON)
We say: It may seem monumental, but they've already got the infrastructure there. They've got the UK Performance Center all set up and are able to host events like Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia and Australia. All that's missing is the willingness to commit to going all out in England.
  • Lars Sullivan has undergone successful knee surgery that will keep him out of action for six to nine months. It apparently came about after Sullivan was doing something routine. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: This is fortunate for the embattled Lars Sullivan, who could probably use this time to lay low and figure out how to not be a further liability to the WWE.
  • Rusev and Lana are out of action because they reportedly asked for some time off. He was last seen at Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia. (Source: WON)
We say: Honestly, good on him. At least he's not being oversaturated on the main shows, and when he does come back it'll be refreshing. (Hopefully.) We do miss Shinsuke Nakamura, though.
  • WWE is interested in signing up-and-coming Anoa'i scion Jacob Fatu. Everyone seems to be high on Fatu, who is currently with Major League Wrestling. Fatu is cousins with the Usos, and nephew to Rikishi and Umaga. (Source: WON)
We say: If you want to get ahead of the game, you know who to watch out for. Seriously, the Anoa'i family is ridiculously talented wherever you look, so Jacob Fatu becoming a big star under the WWE system isn't out of the question.
