MWF AksyoNovela TV Episode 4: #VeronicaBack

We're set to see matches taped specifically for AksyoNovela TV in a few weeks, with their first taping scheduled for this Saturday. Up until next week's episode 5, though, we're going to see catch-up footage as Manila Wrestling Federation primes its YouTube viewing market to be updated of its ongoing storylines.

EP 4: SIKAT NA ARTISTA, MIYEMBRO NG BAHAY NG LIWANAG?!

Episode 4 cold opens with JC Santos's cameo as part of the Bahay ng Liwanag, quickly establishing that the faction is a dominant force. Veronica Mikers is hosting today, and she explained that the host is usually Tarek, with PAC RG taking over in Tarek's absence. But in Veronica has managed to sneak in for this episode by giving RG "scheduling conflicts," and she brought Rex Lawin with her as a bodyguard.

I'm not sure I like how Veronica is just back—I felt like a strong-enough reason was never provided. She was fired, after all. Is she part of MWF again? If not, why was she allowed at ringside? It's just weird because just putting her in as Rex Lawin's new manager doesn't feel earned enough.

The first match is the Kampeon ng Masa tournament match between Nigel San Jose and Jomar Liwanag. Nigel has impressed since debuting as White Shirt, but it's often forgotten how good Jomar has become. He's definitely better at wrestling than cult leader Moises Liwanag, and in this match he was able to make it seem that he was on par—or better—than the rookie. Contrast this with the Nigel vs. Moises match from MWF 10 when, even though Moises was the "veteran," it seemed clear that Nigel was the ring general. Anyway, Jomar won this televised match, for the Bahay ng Liwanag.

I won't be surprised if Nigel and Jomar are MWF main-eventers in a year or two.

HSSL NAMAN

The second part of the show was dedicated to another MWF faction. HSSL is actually the current largest group with four members, and we start off with the video they shot (in portrait mode!) as they trashed Gus Global's office. The show then transitioned to the MWF 10 match between HSSL's Fabio Makisig and Khayl SisonT versus Hong Kong's Bitman and Michael Su.

I enjoyed this match when I watched it live, and it doesn't disappoint on repeat viewings. The Hong Kong wrestlers know how to tell a story, and HSSL was up to the task, as well. I did learn a new thing from Tarek's commentating, though. Apparently, the low blow-Primera Klasika Sipa combo finisher is called Sisig with Egg. So now whenever I order sisig from the tapsilogan, I will remember Bitman's grimace of pain.

Hassle naman.

Episode 4 tl;dr: MWF spotlights two of its stronger factions: Bahay ng Liwanag and HSSL!
